About
Buzz is a London based costume interpreter who has been sewing clothing for 10 years. She has recently graduated with a first class BA (Hons) from Wimbledon College of Arts and is pursuing work as a costume maker for film and television, as well as a freelance costume and clothing maker. She has a longstanding interest in fantasy and period inspired costume that can immerse people in fictional worlds and stories of the strange and beautiful.
For her final year at university she has specialised in costume making and focused on dressmaking for theatre and film, as a way of exploring a range of processes such as creative pattern cutting, elaborate embellishment, corsetry, and innovative 3D realisation. She has a love for experimentation in her creation process, to create unique costumes that are underpinned by meticulous attention to detail and rigorous sewing techniques by machine and hand.
Outside of University she also designs and creates bold interactive costumes for performance at festivals, inspired by carnival costume and created using recycled materials. Buzz is a keen environmentalist and is interested in the intersection of craft, nature and creativity, which has pushed her to explore traditional craft techniques in wood, metal and natural fibres and working with recycled materials to explore ways of connecting people with nature through art and costume. Alongside this she co-owns HÜD hats, an independent headwear brand creating playful slow fashion hand sewn in her East London studio.
